Project TAHOE American History Summit

Murray State University Curris Center – 3rd Floor

West Kentucky Educational Cooperative’s Project TAHOE Faces (Teaching American History Opportunities for Educators) presents an American History Summit at the Murray State University Curris Center on March 23, 2010. The summit will showcase and explore a variety of topics related to U.S. History with an emphasis on content and pedagogy.

Keynote Speaker – Dr. Edward T. O’Donnell, Associate Professor of History at Holy Cross College, Worcester, MA.

Session presentations, teacher networking, exhibits, and educational vendors will provide participants the opportunity to experience a diversity of themes while concentrating on the overall value of American History education in our schools and classrooms!

Who: All teachers of American History, principals, central office administrators, superintendents, and other interested educators

What: TAHOE American History Summit

When: Tuesday, March 23, 2010, 8:00 am –3:00 pm

Where: Murray State University Curris Center – Third Floor

Lunch and Refreshments will be provided. ***To register, please visit the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative website {http://wkec.org/}click on “TAHOE American History Summit” in the right hand column, and submit your information. While there are no fees for this event, in order to participate you must pre-register!

Happy 2010! I hope that everyone had a great holiday break and that you came back to the classroom relaxed, refreshed, and reenergized!

Our next event is still a few weeks away (January 28th-29th), and by now I hope that everyone has had a chance to register with Facing History and Ourselves for the seminar. Also, please remember that we will continue to accept your SBUS material orders at any time during the next couple of months. The final date for placing all SBUS material requests is March 26, 2010. If you have any questions, please contact your assigned resource specialist for information.

The PIE team is comprised of project staff, MSU grant partners, school administrators, and teacher participants.  Your district will be represented by a fellow colleague who will serve in the role as an additional emissary for feedback and dialogue about TAHOE goals, activities, and events.  Below is the list of PIE team district representatives:

TAHOE Faces Year 3 – Orientation Powerpoint

Dear TAHOE teachers,

It was so nice to see everyone at the orientation yesterday!  We are excited to have you as a participant, and look forward to a wonderful year of TAHOE activities and events! Remember that your participation matters to us, and we appreciate the contributions that each of you make!

If you are interested in going on the Memphis trip, make sure that you have registered!  Please check for your name on the list that I emailed to everyone.  Also, if you have any questions about any of the items or events that we disscussed, I encourage you to contact us!  

Looks like we are off to a great start!  We have a wonderful year ahead!
