Welcome to TAHOE Faces!
TAHOE Faces is a professional growth program for history teachers designed and administered by the West Kentucky Education Cooperative (WKEC). Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the Teaching American History (TAH) grant program awarded the WKEC one million dollars in the summer of 2007 to implement TAHOE Faces to 15 school districts in far western Kentucky. TAHOE (Teaching American History Opportunities for Educators) Faces reflects
a unique and distrinctive approach to teaching American history where participants will explore historical eras using biography, autobiography, and memoir to seamlessly connect one historical period to another.
The goal of TAHOE Faces is to improve, strengthen, and enhance content knowledge of U.S. history teachers in order for them to offer effective instruction in their classrooms. As a result, student achievement in U.S. history will significantly improve.
Partners with the WKEC who will provide professional development activities, seminars, and instructional strategies to participants include Murray State University, the Kentuky Humanities Council, Facing History and Ourselves, the Kentucky Historical Society, Murray State University History Department, Teacher Quality Institute, Kentucky Academy of Technology Education, and the National Archives.
